Beginner Rifle for Hunters 10/04/2025

This course is for students new to hunting and/ or shooting. Topics covered are firearms safety, marksmanship, attaining a 100 yard zero with your rifle, moving on foot with your rifle, and will end with a practical exercise to simulate spotting an animal, ranging, establishing a firing position, and firing a single round into a target the size of a deer’s vital organs.

Students must bring the following:

  • Your hunting rifle w/ optic properly mounted (bipod optional but recommended)

  • 40 rounds ammuition

  • ANSI rated safety glasses and ear protection

  • A backpack or day pack stuffed full to use as a shooting platform

  • (optional) shooting mat

  • Weather appropriate clothing

  • Water and snacks
